Using the Project Workbench

The Project Workbench was specifically designed for team members and completing tasks related to project execution. Project activities such as creating work papers, completing checklists, capturing findings, conducting reviews and follow-up tasks may be viewed, created and updated in the Project Workbench. All risk assessments, project planning and scheduling, and administration and setup activities must be completed outside of the Project Workbench in the Project Portal.

During the course of a project, there may be times when users need to complete project work and tasks while not connected to the network. Users can use the Project Workbench to work "offline" to execute project work and then synchronize the information with the server when they can reconnect to the network.

Working offline is ideal for team members who.....

• Travel often and may need to work at an airport or in the plane
• Can only connect to the network via dial up or modem connections
• Are working in remote locations where network connectivity is not available or is extremely slow

  Notes: Prior to working offline for the first time, users must install an icon on their computer that provides access to the Project Workbench. This is a one time activity and must be completed while still connected to the network. See Setup Your Laptop to Use the Project Workbench for additional information. The Project Scheduler function is not available offline and can only be utilized while being connected to the network.
